SYMPHONIC BAND

Comprised of approximately seventy five 9th-12th graders, the Symphonic Band is the main performing group at Maui High School. This band has earned superior ratings at the Oahu Band Directors Association Parade of Bands in 1999 and 2000. Adjudicators at the festival have included Col. John Bourgeois of the U.S. Marine Band, composer W. Francis McBeth, Donald Hunsberger of the Eastman Wind Ensemble, and Jerry Junkin of the Dallas Wind Symphony. The band usually performs works in the grade III-V range, and is broken up into three classes throughout the school day. Students are also required to attend after-school rehearsals in preparation for concerts, and are awarded one credit for their participation throughout the year.
